Day 27: The Blessings of the Lord
Scripture Reading: Proverbs 10:22–32
Key Verse:
"The blessing of the Lord makes a person rich, and he adds no sorrow with it." — Proverbs 10:22 (NLT)
Reflection
True blessings come from the Lord, and they bring joy and peace without regret. In this passage, Solomon contrasts the outcomes of living righteously with the consequences of wickedness, reminding us that God’s blessings are tied to wisdom, integrity, and faithfulness.
The blessings of the Lord are described as enriching, but this isn’t limited to material wealth (v. 22). God’s blessings include peace, purpose, relationships, and a life aligned with His truth. Unlike the fleeting rewards of sin or selfish ambition, God’s blessings add no sorrow—they bring lasting fulfillment. For leaders, this is a reminder to seek success God’s way, trusting Him to provide what is good and enduring.
Solomon contrasts the joy and satisfaction of the righteous with the fleeting, shallow happiness of the wicked (vv. 23–25). The righteous build their lives on a firm foundation of wisdom and faithfulness, while the wicked pursue short-term gains that lead to instability and fear.
The passage also emphasizes the power of words, returning to a familiar theme in Proverbs. The lips of the righteous bring wisdom, encouragement, and life, while the speech of the wicked leads to harm and deceit (vv. 31–32). For leaders, this highlights the importance of using our words to reflect God’s truth and to guide others in a way that builds trust and fosters growth.
Ultimately, this passage challenges us to align our lives and leadership with God’s wisdom. His blessings aren’t just about what we receive—they’re about who we become and how we reflect His goodness to others.
Word Study: Rich (עָשַׁר, ashar)
The Hebrew word ashar means “to enrich” or “to make wealthy.” In this context, it refers to the fullness and abundance that comes from God’s blessings, encompassing more than material wealth.
For leaders, ashar reminds us that true richness is found in a life aligned with God’s wisdom and purposes, bringing blessings that endure and overflow to others.
Challenge
Reflect on how you view and pursue blessings in your life and leadership.
1. Are you seeking success and fulfillment in ways that align with God’s wisdom, or have you allowed selfish ambition to creep in?
2. How can you focus more intentionally on receiving and sharing the blessings of the Lord?
Write down one specific area where you need to realign your priorities with God’s truth. Pray for His wisdom and grace to lead in a way that reflects His blessings.
Leadership in Action
Consider how you’re sharing the blessings of the Lord through your leadership.
• Are you creating an environment where others can experience peace, joy, and growth?
• How can your words and actions reflect the richness of God’s blessings this week?
Identify one leadership decision or relationship where you can be a channel of God’s blessings. Take practical steps to encourage, guide, or support someone in a way that reflects His goodness.
Prayer
Lord, thank You for the blessings You pour into my life, enriching me in ways far beyond material wealth. Teach me to trust in Your provision and to lead with integrity, wisdom, and faithfulness. Help me to use my words and actions to reflect Your goodness and to bless those I influence. Align my heart with Your purposes, so that my leadership points others to You. Amen.
